Jan 09, 2013 (newstodate): The EU Commission has decided to support a study for developing the intermodal passenger and freight transport infrastructure at Romania's Cluj-Napoca International Airport.
The specific objective is to elaborate a set of studies necessary for the design of an intermodal transport project at the Cluj-Napoca Airport with a view to ensure the interconnectivity of air transportation of passenger and freight with the country's railway network.
The studies are slated for completion by November 2014.
Cluj-Napoja Airport is Romania's 3rd largest in passenger volumes, and TNT and TAROM Cargo also operate cargo facilities at airport.
A new 3,500 m runway and a cargo terminal are planned for construction.
