Jan 22, 2013 (newstodate): In 2012, Russia's Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo Airport saw its total cargo volumes up by 18 percent, y-o-y, to 19,876 tonnes.
The airport's international cargo volumes increased by 45 percent to 7,059 tonnes, while the domestic volumes were up by seven percent to a total of 12,817 tonnes.
12,702 tonnes of the total volumes were transported in the belly-holds of passenger aircraft, while another 7,173 tonnes were lifted by freighter aircraft.
The trend is that more and more cargo is provided by freighters, and in 2012 this volume was up by 48 percent, y-o-y, while the proportion lifted by passenger aircraft was up by only five percent.
Among the freighter operators, AirBridgeCargo increased its volumes through the airport by 51 percent in 2012.
The airport expects to handle more than 25,000 tonnes of cargo in 2013, at cargo facilities able to handling of more than 55,000 tonnes annually.
Jointly managing the cargo facilities at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport as well as Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo Airport is Interport, a subsidiary of the Russian Holding company Interros, set up in 2012.
