Jan 30, 2013 (newstodate): The Danish air cargo business will meet in Billund Airport on February 7, 2013, for a conference on air cargo, arranged by the Danish Transportation Economics Association, TOF.
Among the topics to be highlighted is the imminent enforcement by April 29, 2013, of screening of all airfreight shipments unless delivered at airports by registered "known consignors" and certified freight agents.
At yesterday's Nordic Air Cargo Conference at Gothenburg, one speaker was Harald Zielinski, Global Head of Security & Environmental Management, who singled out Denmark and Austria as the markets to be hit the hardest by the security requirements due to low volumes of registered known consignors.
According to Mr Zielinski, up to 75 percent of all airfreight export shipments from Denmark would thus require screening at airports, compared to e.g. Germany where only some 30 percent would require screening.
Whether or not the statistics can be validated by other competent sources, the issue is hot and will draw intense attention at the air cargo conference at Billund Airport.
