Jan 11, 2013 (newstodate): Airfreight volumes at the 16 Norwegian airports managed by Avinor were up by 4.8 percent, y-o-y, in 2012.
The airports handled a total of 135,151 tonnes of air cargo in 2012, against 128,912 tonnes in 2011.
Domestic cargo volumes landed at 57,831 tonnes, slightly down by 1.9 percent, while international cargo increased by 10.1 percent, y-o-y, to 77,320 tonnes.
Of the international cargo, 74,997 tonnes were carried as belly cargo on passenger aircraft, increasing 11.8 percent, while 2,327 tonnes were lifted by freighters, down 19.7 percent, y-o-y.
By far the bulk of these cargo volumes were handled at Oslo Gardermoen Airport that hit an all-time high 104,543 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 6.9 percent, y-o-y, including 73,758 tonnes of international cargo, up 10 percent, and 30,795 tonnes of domestic cargo that remained unchanged from 2011.
