Jan 14, 2013 (newstodate): Airbus is due to steal the spotlight again in 2013 with the start of a new era with the Airbus A350 aircraft.
The first A350 is expected to roll out in March or April 2013, with the first flight expected by June or July this year.
So far, Airbus has fetched a total of 592 firm orders for the new all-composite aircraft, including the latest new orders by Singapore Airlines for 20 and by CIT for 10 aircraft.
In the meantime, Boeing is experiencing a series of incidents with its competing Boeing 878 Dreamliner aircraft including a recent battery fire, cracks in a cockpit window and oil leaks.
A total of 848 Boeing 787 aircraft have so far been ordered.
