Jan 25, 2013 (newstodate): Denmark's air navigation service provider Naviair has selected Saab Sensis' ADS-B system for surveillance of flights passing through the airspace of Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
As Naviair becomes capable of providing ADS-B data to aircraft equipped with corresponding systems, flight separation between aircraft may be reduced, and the system will also offer enhanced surveillance for search and rescue.
According to Naviair, around 70 percent of flights over Greenlandic and Faroese areas are currently equipped with ADS-B.
