Sep 13, 2012 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius Airport has seen little change in total cargo and mail volumes in 2012, compared to last year.
During the first eight months of 2012 a total of 3,796 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at Vilnius Airport, down 0.56 percent on 2011 when the airport's volumes during the period grew by 15.2 percent, y-o-y.
Behind the stagnant over-all picture, changes in the relation of cargo to mail volumes have set in.
During January-August 2012 the airport's cargo volumes at 3,095 tonnes were up 10.4 percent, while mail volumes dropped 31 percent percent to 701 tonnes.
In August 2012 the airport handled a total of 459 tonnes, up 3.9 percent, y-o-y, including 400 tonnes of cargo, up 14.3 percent, and 77 tonnes of mail, down 29 percent, y-o-y.
