Sep 17, 2012 (newstodate): Hopes are rising in Ukraine for landing a new air services agreement with the United States.
Ukraine's minister of infrastructure is currently visiting the USA, and high on the agenda are negotiations for launching open skies between the two countries.
According to the minister, the negotiations may reach a fruitful conclusion already later this year, pacing the road for the lift of any limitations on commercial air services between carriers from the two countries.
Since 2005, Ukraine is, however, still on the FAA list as a Category II country, meaning that Ukrainean carriers are not allowed to launch new flights into the USA with aircraft under Ukrainian registration.
