Sep 14, 2012 (newstodate): Turkish Airlines is seeing growing volumes of passengers in the Baltic market markets and is now increasing its service.
From this week, the carrier has added two weekly rotations on the route between Istanbul and Riga, in Latvia, going up to five weekly flights from three offered since the start of the operations on April 23, 2006.
-We have significant and growing numbers of passengers from Estonia and Lithuania using the Istanbul-route from Riga, and Turkish Airlines will therefore launch flights on new routes to Tallinn and Vilnius as well, starting from 2013, says Sanita Geka, Turkish Airlines marketing manager Latvia.
No exact date for opening of these new routes have yet been settled.
Also operating daily flights on the route between Riga and Istanbul is the Latvian carrier airBaltic that will thus see fresh competition from Turkish Airlines in the Baltic region in 2013.
airBaltic started operating the Riga-Istanbul flights from March 1, 2005.
