Sep 19, 2012 (newstodate): Baltic Cargo Center, the cargo terminal of North Hub Cargo at Latvia's Riga Airport, has seen its cargo volumes down during the first eight months of the year.
A total of 3,785 tonnes of cargo was handled by the terminal during the period, a decline by 11 percent, y-o-y, mainly due to lower transit cargo volumes.
On the other hand, mail volumes handled were up by 35 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 3,355 tonnes, primarily driven by growing transit mail volumes during the period.
In total the share of transit volumes of cargo and mail was down to 58 percent in January-August 2012, compared to 59 percent in 2011.
In 2011 Baltic Cargo Center handled a total of 10,484 tonnes of cargo and mail, unchanged against 2010.
