Sep 21, 2012 (newstodate): The comprehensive analysis of the importance of air cargo in Norway, initiated by Avinor in 2012, is now close to completion, and the report will be published in October.
Based on the analysis and its recommendations, Avinor will work out a strategy for the future development of the country's airfreight industry including removal of infrastructural bottle-necks.
-The analysis includes data on Norway's international airfreight, but what is new is that it also includes the volume of the country's extensive airfreight export by road to hubs such as Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Amsterdam, says Jon Inge Lian, Avinor senior consultant and responsible for the project.
-All parties involved in and around Norway's airfreight industry have been included in the process that has a strong focus on all snags and limitations currently hindering the continued development of the country's air cargo growth, says Mr Lian.
Norway exports some 70-75,000 tonnes of fresh seafood by air, making the Norwegian fresh salmon and seafood shipments Europe's largest airfreight commodity.
In 2011, international cargo lifted from Norwegian airports accrued to a total of 37,505 tonnes testifying to the significant share of the export air cargo transported to airports outside the country.
