Sep 19, 2012 (newstodate): On May 28, 2012, Ukraine's Kiev Borispol Airport opened a new passenger terminal, Terminal D.
The new terminal is the largest in Ukraine, with capacity to handling of 3,000 incoming and 3,000 outgoing passengers per hour.
The problem is - that neither of the country's leading airlines reportedly wants to use it!
Ukraine International Airlines, with 25 percent of the airport's total passenger through-put, prefers to stay at the current Terminal F, while Aerosvit, with 37 percent of the traffic, will remain at Terminal B.
Both airlines object to the new Terminal D's lack of a transfer zone as well as its lack of interface towards domestic air traffic.
As a result, the opening of the new Terminal C has resulted in a situation of excess capacity in terminal space.
