Sep 17, 2012 (newstodate): The Russian government is firmly decided to merge the Moscow region airports into one holding company, to consolidate the commercial airport business serving the capital.
And the process is to work fast - a working group will now be set up to define conditions for a competition to attract bids for development of the capital's airports and creation of a company to integrate the existing facilities.
Already before October 1, 2012, the working group will refer its results to the transport minister, and a short tender process will then produce a consultant to design the project.
By November 10, this consultant will next present his recommendation for consolidating the Moscow airport infrastructure in a single, unified company, and on November 15, 2012, this final recommendation will be delivered to the president for endorsement.
Besides the the airport Moscow Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo, the region comprises another 11 airports and 22 civil and military airfields.
