Sep 04, 2012 (newstodate): A new position as Commercial director has been created at Lithuania's Litcargus, one of the country's leading ground handling companies.
The company has named Arijandas Sliupas in the new position from the start of this month.
Until July 2012, Mr Sliupas served as Kaunas Airport general director.
-My task will be to monitor the market for new business opportunities, seeking new clients and expanding business with existing customers, with reference to Litcargus' CEO, Vidmantas Vaskys, says Mr Sliupas.
-Litcargus is one of the two major ground providers in Lithuania, alongside BGS. In the market are also three smaller providers - BFA at Vilnius, Interekspresas at Palanga Airport, and the ground handling provider at Siauliai Airport.
-The Lithuanian market for ground handling services is limited, and the two low-cost operators Ryanair and Wizz Air are quite dominating in the country's aviation. Still, there are potentials for new carriers to add traffic to Lithuania both as to passenger and cargo operations.
-Besides maintaining a focus on the domestic market, Litcargus might also at some point look into potentials for expanding into other markets, which will also constitute a part of my responsibility, says Mr Sliupas.
Established in 1993, Litcargus managed by Vidmantas Vaskys as CEO was the first independent, privately-owned ground handling company in Vilnius International Airport, with Lufthansa as its launch customer.
