Sep 10, 2012 (newstodate): India's airfreight market is strongly dominated by foreign carriers, according to official figures.
The Indian air cargo market is expected to grow by 10-12 percent annually, but foreign carrier are holding over 82 percent of the total volumes.
The percentage has, however, declined somewhat from 83.1 percent in 2009-10 to 82.5 percent in 2011-12.
Indian carriers have thus grown their share of the volumes from 16.9 in 2009-10 to 17.5 percent in 2011-12.
In India's domestic air cargo market, the state-owned Air India has seen its share down from 20.2 percent in 2009-10 to 16.2 percent in 2011-12, with private Indian carriers growing their share correspondingly.
