Sep 25, 2012 (newstodate): The Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport will have a new passenger terminal, and the negotiations with the winner of the recently concluded tender are now in their final stage.
-We are in close talks with Artikon that delivered the lowest bid, as well as with FAERport that has designed the coming terminal and service building, says Jakup Sverri Kass, Vagar Airport CEO.
The airport's own target-price at DKK 102 mio was, however, still below the lowest and winning bid at DKK 124 mio, requiring a process of negotiations between the parties.
-While the negotiations have not been completed yet, I still expect construction works to start in about two weeks' time as we are rather close to a solution, having to accept that we may hardly get as low as the estimated 102 mio, says Mr Kass.
-We are focusing on the optimal price/quality ratio while still ensuring that we will end up with a fully functional building and accepting some less costly solutions in some cases than earlier expected, says Mr Kass.
