Sep 25, 2012 (newstodate): Estonian Air has scrapped earlier thoughts of entering the helicopter service market between Finland and Estonia.
A helicopter services was introduced on September 14, 2011, by Copterline serving the Tallinn-Helsinki route, and only few months later Estonian Air CEO Tero Taskila told newstodate that the carrier was indeed negotiating with Copterline, but the parties did not reach agreement on how to settle the ownership structure of the proposed Joint Venture.
The issue was brought forward again in 2012 as an Estonian politician demanded that Estonian Air should seriously consider this business.
But - Mr Taskila now confirms to newstodate that all such ideas have been shelved, and Estonian Air will remain on fixed wings only.
Unless, of course, Estonian politicians again deem it necessary to prove their competence in aviation...(editor's remark).
