Sep 25, 2012 (newstodate): The Dubai-based low-cost carrier flyDubai is soon to spread its wings further in the Balkan region.
From October 1, 2012, the carrier will launch three weekly flights on a new route between Dubai and Bucharest, in Romania, followed by the opening of twice-weekly flights on another new route between Dubai and Skopje from October 18, 2012.
Besides serving the growing passenger market, flyDubai is also unique among low-cost carriers in having set up airfreight as a separate business form January 1, 2012, and the company will thus become the first online direct cargo service between Dubai and these two Balkan markets.
Over the past ten months, flydubai Cargo has forged a number of interline agreements with airlines including Emirates and British Airways and Estonia Air as well as Coyne Airways and Jet Airways.
The carrier's cargo division thus now reaches beyond flydubai's passenger network, and flyDubai Cargo has also joined Calogi for inter-connectivity with the global airfreight business.
Goods transported include general cargo, perishable items, textiles, electronics, courier, mail, and pharmaceuticals.
