Sep 05, 2012 (newstodate): Cargo volumes are lagging behind at Estonia's Tallinn Airport since this summer.
In August 2012, a total of 1,971 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport - a decline by 32.4 percent, y-o-y, and continuing the negative trend since June 2012.
For January-August 2012, totals were 13,816 tonnes, still up 18.9 percent, y-o-y, due to steep increases in the first half of the year.
The decline reflects the drop in cargo imports, down 37.7 percent in August to 1,645 tonnes.
ULS normally operates 35-40 monthly freighters from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Tallinn Airport carrying shipments destined for the Russian market, but the traffic is only now being restored after a seasonal break over summer.
