Sep 25, 2012 (newstodate): The Armenian carrier Armavia is in financial troubles, having generated a significant debts pile to the country's Yerevan Zvartnots Airport.
The two parties have now agreed on a partial solution, allowing Armavia to resume flights from the airport while the airport is again providing its services to the carrier.
As a result, Armavia is now to reopen flights to Frankfurt Airport from October 30, 2012.
The carrier's owner has threatened to file the carrier for bankruptcy unless the airport agrees to lower its charges that are claimed to be excessive.
While the carrier has not confirmed this, its financial problems may also lie under its fight with the Russian manufacturer of the Sukhoi Superjet 100, resulting in the arrest of the aircraft in Russia after a maintenance period and Armavia's refusal to accept the delivery of the second Superjet, due for delivery already by early summer 2012.
