Aug 27, 2012 (newstodate): Uzbekistan's Navoi Airport is increasing its significance as a cargo hub with a new freighter route to China.
Effective from August 30, 2012, Uzbekistan Airways will launch flights on a new freighter route between Navoi and Tianjin, using an Airbus 300-600F freighter on a weekly rotation.
In 2008,Uzbekistan Airways and the Hanjin Group, parent company of Korean Air, signed an agreement to develop Uzbekistan's logistics infrastructure including the building of a new logistics center at Navoi, Uzbekistan.
In April, 2009, Uzbekistan Airways introduced two Airbus A330-600F aircraft, leased from Korean Air Cargo, to perform flights to Europe and to South East Asia, using Navoi Airport as an air cargo hub between the two regions.
