Aug 28, 2012 (newstodate): Georgia has extended its concession with the Turkish company TAV over management of Tbilisi Airport by another 10 years, set to expire by 2037.
In return for the extension of the management concession, TAV undertakes the reconstruction of the airport's second 2,500m runway that has been decommissioned for a long period.
According the plans, the reconstruction of the runway will start already by September 2012 and will require some two years to be completed.
TAV has been operating the airport since October, 2005.
