Aug 28, 2012 (newstodate): Three Russian regional carriers are teaming up to enhance their joint coverage and catchment areas.
According to agreement reached, the three carriers Tatarstan Airlines, Ak Bars Aero and Mordovia Airlines will established a joint transport management company, with production performed by the partner airlines.
The planned set-up is expected to effectively raise the flight and mobility opportunities in the Volga region, limiting the needs for transfers via Moscow's airports.
When fully implemented, the new entity will require the acquisition of up to 35 new regional aircraft.
In the fleet of Tatarstan Airlines, based at Kazan, are one Airbus A319, four Boeing 737, two TU-154 and two YAK-42 aircraft, Ak Bars Aero based at Bugulma operates a fleet of eight CRJ200, one Bombardier Challenger, and 10 YAK-40 aircraft, and Mordovia Airlines, based at Saransk, Mordovia, has a total of six AN-24 and two CRJ100 aircraft in the fleet.
