Aug 07, 2012 (newstodate): Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport has seen its flown cargo volumes declining in the first six months of 2012.
A total of 18,411 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, down 18.1 percent, y-o-y.
Mail volumes also dropped by 4.1 percent, y-o-y, to 828 tonnes during the same period.
In 2011, the airport handled a total of 41,806 tonnes of flown air cargo in 2011, a drop by 12.4 percent, y-o-y.
To this should be added the trucked airfreight at the airport, bringing the total volume of cargo handled to about 90,000 tonnes in 2011.
The airport has three weekly Boeing 777 freighter rotations between Gothenburg and Dubai by Emirates and two weekly Boeing 747-400F freighter operations between Gothenburg and Seoul by Asiana.
Asiana will, however, relocate its Scandinavian freighter service from Sweden to Oslo, opening flights between Oslo Gardermoen Airport and Incheon from September this year, further decreasing the cargo volumes at Gothenburg from this year's last four months.
