Aug 07, 2012 (newstodate): The Slovakian airline Danube Wings, based at Bratislava, has doubled its passenger volumes during the first seven months of this year
Behind the rise in passenger number is the addition of the carrier's fourth ATR-72 aircraft delivered in April 2012.
One ATR-72 has been operating on an ACMI contract with NextJet in Sweden, and in May 2012 Danube Wings opened a new base at the French airport Dole-Jura operating on six new regional routes.
In Slovakia the carrier is operating flights between Bratislava and Kosice as well as flights to three Croatian destinations, and Danube Wings also operates flights from Rimini, in Italy, to German and Mediterranean destinations.
Set up in January, 2009, Danube Winds started out with a fleet comprising three ATR 72 as well as one Boeing 737-400 aircraft that has now been phased out.
