The carrier will offer daily rotations on the route between Chicago and Helsinki from June 13, 2013, using Boeing 767-300 aircraft on the route.
Some media cast doubts over the airline's plans as the flights to Helsinki was filed somewhat later than other seasonal flights.
But it eventually proved to be only a technicality.
American Airlines launched its summer services from 2011 between Chicago and Helsinki Vantaa Airport with Boeing 767-300 aircraft in a code-share agreement with Finnair and other oneworld member airlines.
