Aug 23, 2012 (newstodate): The Lithuanian aviation service provider FL Technics has now launched the construction of a new aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul centre at Ulyanovsk, Russia.
The company will establish two new 8,000 sq m aircraft maintenance hangars for servicing both narrow and wide body aircraft, including Airbus А320, Boeing 737 Classic, Boeing 737NG, Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Bombardier CRJ 200, Sukhoi Superjet 100, as well as Boeing 747 and Airbus A380 aircraft.
The new facility will include a 3,000 sq m aircraft parking platform and the first hangar is expected to launch commercial services by early 2015.
Currently, over 50 percent of all non-Russian manufactured aircraft operated by Russian carriers are serviced outside the country, incurring significant costs for local airlines.
The construction of the MRO centre at Ulyanovsk is the third project undertaken by Avia Solutions Group.
In 2006 the company finished the construction of an MRO hangar at Vilnius International Airport, Lithuania, and in 2013 the company is planning to launch the construction of a new FL Technics hangar at Kaunas International Airport, Lithuania.
