Aug 21, 2012 (newstodate): Kazakhstan is intent on regaining its access to EU airspace, denied since 2009, with it was first entered on the EU Aviation Blacklist.
The country's civil aviation regulator Kazaeronavigation has sought the assistance of ICAO, signing an agreement on information-management services between the two parties.
Under the agreement, ICAO will support Kazakhstan in re-framing its civil aviation organizational structure, training of qualified technical personnel setting up new procedures for certification and supervision of procedures.
ICAO will also assist Kazakhstan in enhancing its aviation safety procedures.
On the EU Blacklist now are all 38 air carriers certified by the authorities with responsibility for regulatory oversight of Kazakhstan, with the exception of Air Astana.
