Aug 24, 2012 (newstodate): Icelandair is currently evaluating scenarios for its future aircraft fleet planning.
Two scenarios are under consideration - the first being maintaining a single fleet of Boeing 757 aircraft as of today untill 2022, the second being a mixed fleet of Boeing 757 and smaller aircraft.
Icelandair is already in close talks with both Boeing and Airbus over its coming decision on fleet structure, but other aircraft manufacturers are also not excluded, and a final decision on the issue will be made by the Icelandair Group in the near future, the company says.
Today, the Icelandair Group operates a total of 15 Boeing 757-200 and one Boeing 757-300 passenger aircraft as well as four Boeing 757-200 freighters.
