Aug 20, 2012 (newstodate): After rounding off a successful strategy of expansion in the German market, HAVAS Europe is seeing consolidation high on the agenda for the rest of 2012.
Within a span of only four months, starting from March 2012, HAVAS Europe has launched handling services at Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Stuttgart, in all cases driven by contracts with Air France/KLM.
-At Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin we are offering a full handling package, while starting out with only ticketing services at the remaining three airports, and the aim is now to secure quality in service at all these stations and expand into a full handling package including passenger and operations at the three smaller German airports by Q1, 2013, says Janis Balkens, HAVAS Europe CEO.
-As the new guy in the block we are forced to exert ourselves to the utmost - we cannot afford to fail in any respect, and this is what will be our prime focus in the time ahead. We have no plans for further expansion into new markets for the next 12 months. But never say never: if windows of opportunity open or customers require we will of course have the strength and ability to move.
-It goes without saying that having been entrusted with this task by one of the largest aviation conglomerates is an enormous boost for us, and a similarly huge challenge. Our presence in Germany has provided us with a new and powerful platform for future moves, but we aim at manageable growth which is on the agenda now, says Mr Balkens.
