Aug 23, 2012 (newstodate): While no official sources are available to comment on claims by industry sources of an imminent sale of SAS' handling activities, the market is ripe with indications.
Sources thus claim that unions have been informed this week of the decision by SAS to either sell off the handling arm, or pull out of the handling business altogether.
As for potential buyers, some industry sources claim that interest has been noted from international handling companies including Menzies and Swissport.
The same sources also claim that HAVAS Europe may turn out to be among the potential buyers, but in a phone interview with newstodate earlier this week HAVAS Europe's CEO denied any plans for further expansion within the next 12 months, leaving, however, the window open for unexpected and unforeseeable market opportunities.
Expectations are that SAS will make a public announcement on its intentions by next week.
