Aug 01, 2012 (newstodate): Electronic bookings have been high on the agenda for more than a decade. At long last hot air is being replaced by concrete results..
-We are now close to the situation in the Nordic market where about every second booking is coming in electronically, says Alexander Kohnen, Lufthansa Cargo Director for the Nordic and Baltic countries.
-At the top now among the Nordic markets is Finland where more than 50 percent of bookings are performed electronically. Norway is trailing slightly behind with about 33 percent, while 43 percent of the Danish bookings and 40 percent of the Swedish bookings are performed electronically. And the trend is definitely positive in all these markets.
-With electronic bookings the quality of data is enhanced while costs are also effected positively. But even more important is the fact that customers can now place their bookings at any time, day or night. This flexibility also adds to the benefits for all in the airfreight industry, says Mr Kohnen.
