Aug 06, 2012 (newstodate): As rumored for some time already, the Korean carrier Asiana Cargo is indeed to move its operations from Sweden to Norway from this autumn.
The company's cargo GSA in Sweden, Air Trade Support confirms that Asiana will more its operation from Gothenburg, Sweden, to Oslo Gardermoen Airport, in Norway, from this autumn, and an official announcement is due later this week, including the date for the operational changes.
Other sources have earlier said the move will take effect from September 20, 2012.
-The freighter has all along been driven by Norway's seafood exports, and this makes the change natural. We will, however, continue with an allotment for sale in the Swedish market, says Goran Wenker, ATS sales manager.
Since July 2007, Asiana Cargo has been online at Gothenburg, starting out with one weekly call on the return flight from Vienna to Incheon, South Korea, adding a second flights from September 12, 2008, now flying from Frankfurt on the route to Korea.
Another Korean carrier, Korean Air Cargo has been online with dedicated freighter services at Oslo Gardermoen Airport since 2004 with flights to Incheon, South Korea.
In July 2012 Korean Air Cargo held 14 percent of the Norwegian IATA cargo export market, lifting 1,127 tonnes of cargo, primarily seafood, out of Oslo and ranking #2 on the country's IATA CASS list.
