Aug 31, 2012 (newstodate): Ural Airlines will be a newcomer to Hungary's Budapest Airport during the coming winter schedule.
The Russian carrier will launch flights between Yekaterinburg and Budapest from October 3, 2012, offering a weekly rotation with Airbus A320 aircraft.
Another newcomer is the Swiss carrier Sky Work Airlines that will offer three weekly rotations on a route between Bern and Budapest using Dornier 328 aircraft.
Despite these good news, the current estimates for Budapest Airport include a decrease by 10 to 13 percent in passenger volumes due to the shortfall of practically all transfer traffic - a drop by 99 percent, y-o-y.
While the airport has been successful in seeing point-to-point traffic building up again through 2012, the total volumes of air traffic movements have dropped by 20 percent - back to the level of 2002.
Most of the traffic at the airport is now generated by low-cost carriers that have collectively increased their share of the market from 26 percent in 20101 to 53 percent in July 2012.
