Aug 03, 2012 (newstodate): At least one airline is braving the growing tides of internecine war in Syria: Armavia.
Some 60,000 Armenians live in Syria, and many are now seeking ways of leaving the turmoil and danger in the Aleppo area.
Armavia has thus decided to offer extra flights from Yerevan to Aleppo and back to Yerevan using a Boeing 737 aircraft.
The days of operations will be August 8, 15, 22 and 29.
The Syrian Armenians complain of exorbitant ticket prices, but Armavia claims that these prices are fixed by Syrian agents that may probably be tempted to exploit the dire situation.
The traffic is also facing quite another problem: Czech pilots working for Armavia have reportedly refused to fly into Aleppo citing the Czech foreign ministry's advice to refrain Czech citizens against visiting the conflict zones.
