Aug 10, 2012 (newstodate): While rumors abound, Armavia and Sukhoi are still officially tight-lipped about the airline's future with the Superjet 100.
Some reports claim that Armavia has decided to phase out the Superjet 100 aircraft delivered in January 2011 and currently stuck with Sukhoi for maintenance and repair.
Armavia has reportedly denied to take back the aircraft due to excessive needs for unplanned maintenance and low up-time. At the same time Armavia has reportedly also denied to take delivery, long overdue, of its second aircraft on order.
On the other side, Sukhoi is said to be arresting the Armavia aircraft as security for unpaid maintenance bills.
The most official indication of what is in store may be the fact that Armavia has withdrawn the Superjet 100 from its fleet list on its website, now showing only Airbus A320, CRJ-200, Boeing 737 and Yak-42 aircraft.
