Aug 17, 2012 (newstodate): Russia is firming up a new airport infrastructure in the Khabarovsk region.
Funds will be allocated to secure the development of small airport in the region, crucial to transport and communication in the remote corners of the Siberia.
The new infrastructure named Khabarovsk Northern Airports comprises the airports of Nikolaevsk-on-Amur where a new runway is close to completion and an ILS system will be implemented, the settlements in Okhotsk, Ayan, Chumikan that will also have a new runway, and Bogorodskoe.
The airports will also have new small passenger terminals to facilitate the increased air traffic volumes.
