Aug 28, 2012 (newstodate): Airfreight volumes are growing again in 2012 at Iceland's Keflavik Airport.
During the first seven months of 2012, the airport handled a total of 22,552 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 10.8 percent, y-o-y.
So far into 2012, the single largest month in airfreight was May when volumes increased by 26.6 percent, y-o-y, to 3,777 tonnes.
July 2012 was less promising, with volumes up only 2.3 percent, y-o-y, to 3,035 tonnes.
In 2011, the airport handled a total of 36,672 tones of cargo and mail - up only 3.4 percent, y-o-y, and a far cry from the pre-crisis record at 59,742 tonnes, set in 2007.
