Jul 25, 2012 (newstodate): Uzbekistan is planning a move of the capital airport away from the city.
Tashkent International Airport is currently located only 12 km from the city center, blocking plans for the city's development and producing an impact as to noise, radiation and emissions on the near-by city dwellers.
Plans are now to close down the airport and move it to a new location some 45 km away from the city.
If realized, a new airport to serve the capital would be opened by 2030.
