Jul 30, 2012 (newstodate): Given the general decline in the Nordic airfreight business, June 2012 proved rather unusual in seeing positive growth in three out of four Nordic IATA cargo markets.
Excepting Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland all saw IATA export cargo volumes rising, compared to June 2011.
Growth-wise, the Danish IATA market performed the best with an increase by 7.6 percent, y-o-y, to 6,745 tonnes.
Now the largest IATA airfreight market in the Nordics, Norway grew its volumes by 5.5 percent over June 2011, to 8,023 tonnes.
Finally, Finland also saw volumes up by 1.5 percent, y-o-y, to 3,445 tonnes in June 2012.
The Swedish IATA export cargo market was down 47 percent to 7,542 tonnes, but the comparison is marked by unusual one-off loads of one commodity in June 2011. Still, the Swedish IATA cargo market has been consistently in the negative all through 2012.
