Jul 30, 2012 (newstodate): Banja Luka Airport, in Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has again secured a lifeline.
The airport is threatened by the loss of its international operating license if it does not meet requirements on the lengthening of taxiways, purchase of new security equipment and installation of a new security fence - all to be accomplished within one month.
The airport has not been able to finance the project due to lack of operations and revenues.
The only carrier to operate at the airport is now BH Airlines with four weekly calls at Banja Luka Airport en-route between Sarajevo and Zurich.
If the airport does meet the deadline, its hopes hinge on attracting new low-cost traffic.
