Jul 30, 2012 (newstodate): Is Asiana Cargo moving its freighter flights away from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, in Sweden?
Industry sources claim that the company will move its twice-weekly freighter operations from Sweden to Oslo Gardermoen Airport, Norway, from September 20, 2012 - but no official announcement has yet been made.
-Asiana Cargo did operate at Oslo Gardermoen during three weeks in July 2012 when the runway at Gothenburg was being resurfaced, and this was indeed a success in the Norwegian markets, says Gudmund Flaat, Air Trade Support, the carrier's GSA in Norway.
-I have, however, absolutely, no knowledge about plans to more the operations to Oslo on a permanent basis, although I would of course welcome this, he says.
Since July 2007, Asiana Cargo has been online at Gothenburg, starting out with one weekly call on the return flight from Vienna to Inchon, South Korea, adding a second flights from September 12, 2008, now flying from Frankfurt on the route to Korea.
If Asiana Cargo does indeed move its operation to Norway, the decision might be driven by the insatiable demand for uplift of Norwegian seafood exports as well as the declining airfreight market in Sweden.
