Jul 31, 2012 (newstodate): Israel is negotiating an open skies agreement with EU, and an agreement has been reached after three years of talks.
The parties signed an MoU in March 2012, and this has now translated into an agreement, to be ratified by the Israeli government and the EU Parliament before taking effect few months after the completion of the political process.
According to the agreement, existing restrictions on flights between the two markets will be lifted gradually to full liberalization during a five-year transition period to allow Israeli carriers to prepare for market conditions in a fully liberalized environment.
