Jul 27, 2012 (newstodate): The new Georgian carrier Fly Georgia is taking delivery of its first aircraft, an Airbus A319.
The aircraft will land at Tbilisi Airport on July 28, 2012, and be readied for commercial service with the first from Tbilisi to Batumi by next week.
Plans are to take in a second Airbus A319 later this year, and destinations on the route map will include Berlin, Minsk, Dubai, London, Rome, and Vilnius, besides the domestic route between Tbilisi and Batumi.
Fly Georgia, a private venture based at Tbilisi Airport, will offer competition to the existing Georgian airline Georgian Airways, but also to foreign airlines in the country, including Turkish Airlines, and Ukraine's Aerosvit.
