The development plans will focus on expansion of the airport's passenger terminal for domestic flights and construction of the new cargo complex at the airport.
Work on the new cargo complex, developed by the German company Hochtief started in 2011, and the first phase of the project will be completed in 2012, adding some 19,000 sq m of space to the existing facilities and boosting the fast handling of transfer and transit cargo not requiring storage.
During 2018-2022, a further 22,000 sq m of floor space will be added aiming at facilitating the handling of up to 80,000 tonnes of cargo by 2030 - more than 2.5 times the tonnage handled in 2011.
