Jun 27, 2012 (newstodate): Phasing out an aircraft type will leave the operator with a stock of spares to be put up for sale.
This leaves the carrier with two options: selling the entire stock to one or two buyers to clear the warehouse at one stroke. Or to sell the stock part by part over time.
This will be the options for a carrier like the Latvian airline airBaltic that will let go its entire fleet of nine Fokker 50 aircraft before the end of 2012.
-Considering the fact that there are today about 25-30 Fokker 50 operating companies worldwide, with approximately 60 aircraft operated in Europe and the CIS, the spare parts owners may certainly benefit from the remaining components should they decide to sell them one by one rather than all at the same time, says Zilvinas Sadauskas, Locatory.com CEO.
-In any case, today air carriers who are orientated towards positive financial performance and long-term goals cannot afford to be constrained with only one or two offers when they have the possibility to reach dozens of potential buyers or suppliers around the world, says Mr Sadauskas.
Part of Lithuania's AVIA Group, Locatory.com started its activity on December 7, 2010, as a global aviation spare parts platform dedicated to the aviation industry.
