Jun 14, 2012 (newstodate): Norway's Avinor has published its new master plan for the development of Oslo Gardermoen Airport - but it contains little, or nothing, on the role of the country's air cargo industry.
-The focus of this master plan is finding and securing areas for the planned construction of a third runway at Oslo Gardermoen Airport, and the air cargo plays little role in this perspective, says Nic Nilsen, Oslo Lufthavn CEO.
-Already within the existing airport area there is ample space for two cargo terminals, and if the cargo industry will need more areas in the future we will be able to allocate this.
-The future of air cargo in Norway is in focus, however, in the form of an analysis currently being undertaken in cooperation with all partners in and around the industry. The work was launched in March 2012 and a report will be presented by September this year.
-This will provide us with factual knowledge and a background for future planning to meet the industry's needs, says Mr Nilsen.
