Jun 15, 2012 (newstodate): Negotiations for a new air services agreement are currently being conducted between Russia and the Scandinavian countries.
The existing agreement was signed in 1956, and the parties met in May to prepare the text of a new agreement, with a final meeting to take place either later this year or early in 2013.
Both sides have now presented the routes they would like to have included in the coming agreement.
Russian carriers would like to include routes from Russia to Oslo, Bergen, Tromsoe, Kirkenes, Stavanger, Trondheim, Hogesund, and Fagernes in Norway, to Copenhagen, Billund and possibly one more destination in Denmark, and to Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmo, Luleaa, and Oestersund in Sweden.
The Scandinavian side has presented its wish for routes from Norway to Moscow, St Petersburg, Murmansk, and Arkhangelsk and options for four more points, from Denmark to Moscow, St Petersburg, and Kaliningrad, and from Sweden to Moscow and St Petersburg with options for three more destinations in Russia.
The coming new agreement will lift any restriction on freighter operations from either side.
