Jun 12, 2012 (newstodate): The Macedonian government is running a tender to attract new low-cost operators to the country's Skopje Alexander the Great Airport.
The successful winner will benefit from lavish subsidies over the next three years to support the opening of new routes to and from Macedonia that needs international connections.
The tender process is currently in its closing stages and an announcement on the winners is expected shortly.
It is reported, though, that flights to a number of destinations seem to be secured now, including flights between Skopje and Malmo, in Sweden, as well as Munich, Dortmund, Basel, Eindhoven, and Milan.
