Jun 27, 2012 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier RAF-AVIA has stationed one AN-26 freighter in the center of Europe - at Magdeburg/Cochstedt Airport in Germany.
-The aircraft is thus available for European customers, offering 5.5 tonnes of cargo capacity at short notice, says Elena Rigere, RAF-AVIA commercial manager.
-Earlier we stationed one freighter aircraft in the UK, but now we are moving closer to the center of Europe to be a position to respond immediately to customer needs.
-RAF-AVIA is today operating a fleet of seven AN-26 and three SAAB 340A aircraft of which one is based in Finland and another in Budapest, Hungary, operating as subcontractor.
-DHL is an important customer with RAF-AVIA, and we operate three routes for DHL - between Riga and Leipzig, between Leipzig and Ostrava, and between Leipzig and Luxembourg. Two of these contracts are on indefinite time while one contract will expire by September 2012.
-So far into 2012 our performance has been very satisfactory, so we are generally quite happy with the development, says Ms Rigere
